Unlocking Potential & Inspiring Change
We are passionately committed to empowering young males in Out-of-Home Foster Care (OOHC), guiding them towards a brighter and transformative future.
At the heart of our philosophy lies the conviction that every mentor should embody not just wisdom, impartiality, and enthusiasm, but also essential qualities such as genuine empathy, compassion, and honesty. When delivered candidly, these qualities serve as the cornerstone for establishing trust and making a lasting impact on young lives.
We pride ourselves on a program that is uniquely designed to lead, connect, and effect positive change, while also enhancing emotional well-being, promoting positive behaviour, nurturing self-confidence and self-esteem, fostering cultural connections, and building relationships with families and communities.
• The James Te Huna Difference
Our program is spearheaded by James Te Huna, a former UFC star and a highly respected Specialist Coach in the NRL. James works directly with young individuals between the ages of 10 and 17, who are in OOHC settings and who may be in need of emotional, educational, and social support.
1. Personalised Sessions
Each in-person session is thoughtfully crafted by the team that includes the mentor, the young person, the family and the case worker to address key challenges.
Our holistic approach is designed to:
Foster a sense of safety
Encourage physical activity
Provide guidance needed to set and attain personal goals
This one-of-a-kind program is rooted in empathy, compassion, cultural competence, and emotional regulation. Through his extensive education and personal journey, James brings a wealth of tools and narratives that resonate deeply with the youth in our community.
2. Core Values
As a former professional UFC athlete, James embodies the values of discipline, respect, and leadership. These are the qualities that he consistently imparts to the young individuals we mentor and coach, many of whom may be facing challenging circumstances.
3. Focus on Indigenous Youth
James specialises in working with young Indigenous people, aiming to forge meaningful connections with inspirational role models. By doing so, he not only impacts individual lives but also plays a critical role in strengthening families and communities as a whole.
4. Our Commitment
We are unwavering in our commitment to the well-being and potential of our youth. We firmly believe that with the right support and resources, these young individuals can overcome adversity and make invaluable contributions to society.
Join us on this incredible journey as we strive to make a lasting impact, one young life at a time.
